The Swan Silvertones are an American gospel music group that first achieved popularity in the 1940s and 1950s under the leadership of Claude Jeter. Jeter formed the group in 1938 as the "Four Harmony Kings" while he was working as a coal miner in West Virginia.

The Swan Silvertones were a gospel vocal group that performed in the 1940s and 1950s. Originally called the Four Harmony Kings, they were formed in 1938 by Claude Jeter, a West Virginia miner, and included Solomon Womack. They obtained their own radio show in Knoxville, TN sponsored by Swan bakeries, and changed their name to the Swan Silvertone Singers. The Swan Silvertones have been around, seemingly, forever.

The Swan Silvertones are the ultimate housewreckers in my book, and these are their finest recordings. A must-get CD for anyone with life still in them. This album is the high point of the long and distinguished career of the Swan Silvertones. It is also perhaps the best single album of gospel quartet music. Group leader Claude Jeter was the master of falsetto. In the early Fifties he switched to Specialty Records and reluctantly recruited some hard leads (Solomon Womack, Dewey Young, Robert Crenshaw) to augment his sweet-sounding quartet. At the same time the group moved away from pure a capella singing, adding some unobtrusive instrumentation.
