I love Rachel Portman. Her scores for "The Cider House Rules", "Chocolat" and "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" were all breathtakingly beautiful scores. I was very keen on hearing what she came up with for a suspense movie thus we have "The Manchurian Candidate". I must admit I was disappointed because the score was kind of dull and uninteresting. None of the tracks "for Portman's score" ever seem to move, it just stayed on one note and hummed all the way through . Varese Records presents two versions of "The Manchurian Candidate", both are excellent films with a great cast, directors and score that will leave you with something to think about.
