It was released in April 2017 on Heavenly Recordings. It was produced by Lanegan's long-time collaborator Alain Johannes. Roughly half of the music on the record was written by UK-based Rob Marshall through e-mail exchanges with Lanegan, who would write lyrics subsequently.

The Gargoyle is a creature and an enemy that appears in the Asian Theater, Hollywood, during the sidequest Gargoyle Removal Service. This gargoyle was created by the Tremere Regent Maximillian Strauss to protect the Tremere Chantry but eventually, the creature rebelled. At some point in the past, it made its haven in the old Asian Theater and every attempt made by the Anarch Baron of Hollywood, Isaac Abrams, to evict it from there was met with failure.

RUSTIC DEATH HOUND & GARGOYLE - SSE is a hi-res retexture of the Death Hound (AKA Vampire Dog) and Gargoyles (including the statue) from the Dawnguard expansion. For SSE, I combined my RUSTIC DEATH HOUND mod with my RUSTIC GARGOYLE mod for ease of use. Since they are both Dawnguard beasties, it only made sense to port them together. Also, I saved all the normal maps in BC7 compression for improved appearance. I decided that they needed some "rustic" love, so I tried to breathe a little life into these beasties. Included are the Gargoyle Statues that are found in Dawnguard. The Bethesda hi-res pack version was only 1K, so it was seriously lacking in detail. This mod only consists of textures, there are no meshes, or ESP involved.
