The album, which was largely an effective mix of J-Live's own cerebral word games, inspired flow, and candid introspection, not only served as a well-earned sign of endurance in the face of the hip-hop community and music industry at large, but also marked a colossal evolution in J-Live's own sound. In this light, J-Live's new EP, Always Will Be (a companion piece to his Always Has Been EP, featuring fresh material) comes as something of a disappointment.

All of the Above is the second studio album by American hip hop artist J-Live. It was released on Coup d'État in 2002. The album cover pays homage to John Coltrane's Blue Train. Brad Haywood of Pitchfork gave All of the Above an . out of 10, noting that " delivery is similar to Posdnuos, and his lyrical content is along the same lines: intelligent, educated, confident, and socially conscious. Josh Wells of HipHopDX said: "There are virtually no weak tracks on 78 minutes of music.

Deal Wid It - This is one of those songs which, a J-Live fan hearing it will be like, alright, that's a cool message, but you wouldn't want one of your mainstream friends to hear it because they would say he's just crying over his life which was non-gansta to begin with.

It took several years for J-Live to get his first album out, but he’s definitely been making up for lost time recently. Always Will Be is the companion EP to the Always Has Been EP he recently released. While that EP featured rare versions of previously released material, Always Will Be presents a fresh batch. As always J-Live’s lyrics are ridiculously on point. For the most part though, storytelling skills and inner thoughts rather than stylistic flair are displayed.

With the exception of maybe...one song, this entire EP is skip proof, especially the second side. When was the last time anybody rapped about car maintenance?! Or proper time management? He even gives a nod to the countless backpackers out there in the world! Hard to believe this collection came out 10 years ago.
