With the Beatles is the second studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released on 22 November 1963, on Parlophone, exactly eight months after the band's debut Please Please Me. The album features eight original compositions (seven by Lennon–McCartney and "Don't Bother Me", George Harrison's first recorded solo composition and his first released on a Beatles album) and six covers (mostly of Motown, rock and roll, and R&B hits).

The stark cover photo meant to convey the increased seriousness of the band, and indeed With the Beatles is a slight step forward in terms of sophistication from Please Please Me. This is partially because the album was recorded in three months rather than (mostly) in a single day, and Martin often double tracked the band’s vocals to achieve a slightly more robust, richer overall sound. The Beatles (commonly known as The White Album) is the eponymous tenth studio album by English rock band The Beatles.

With The Beatles album replaced Please Please Me at the number one spot, and stayed there for 21 weeks. Combined with the success of their debut, The Beatles achieved a continuous run of 51 weeks at the top of the charts. The album also briefly entered the UK singles chart, where it peaked at number 11. In the early 1960s the chart included all releases, regardless of format or diameter. • Notes under 1976 release state: "It has The 'EMI Records Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer... MADE IN GT BRITAIN' message around the perimeter of the label. (the latter appears on the bottom in all previous versions)." All releases to date on or past 1976 on Discogs show "MADE IN GT BRITAIN" around perimeter and not at bottom. This release, with "MADE IN GT BRITAIN" at bottom, was therefore likely issued prior to 1976.
• Cover is similar in style and construction to the 1973 release pressed in France, with the word "stereo" reverted to its original 1963 font and no flaps visible at top and bottom of the back. The record, however, was pressed in Great Britain, not France.
