Super Lover Cee (Caliente Frederick) and Casanova Rud (Erik Rudnicki) showcased a wealth of lyrical talent on this album. I've never seen the CD, only the LP and the cassette (I wore out two copies of this tape in 1988), it was THAT AWESOME! The legendary Paul C. laid the tracks and arranged the samples, and this album made him in demand by every rapper in the NYC underground hip-hop scene. it does! "Gets No Deeper" uses a classic Supe & Rud syncopation to lay multiple rhymes on a twangy country-sounding sample. And the bravado continues with "Pump it Back", a bawdy tale of how the duo treats their love slaves in the bedroom. The next track, "I Gotta Good Thing", is the first track on the album to use a James Brown sample. Again, Supe shows that he's "bad on the mic" by letting the world know "I'm a cold stone lover".
Gets No Deeper (Remix). Sample appears at 0:02 (and throughout). It's My Thing by Marva Whitney (1969).
