War Child is the seventh studio album by Jethro Tull, released in October 1974. It was released almost a year and a half after the release of A Passion Play. The turmoil over criticism of the previous album surrounded the production of War Child, which obliged the band to do press conferences and explain their plans for the future. The band began recording songs for the album on 7 December 1973, starting with "Ladies"

War Child is the seventh studio album by Jethro Tull, released in October 1974. It was released almost a year and a half after the release of A Passion Play Contents. Ian Anderson told Songfacts: "It was actually late '72 or early '73 when I was in Paris recording an album that never got released, although one or two of the tracks made it out in 1974, but that was at a time when I was writing an album that was exploring people, the human condition, through analogies with the animal kingdom.

It never made the impression of its predecessors, however, as it was a return to standard-length songs following two epic-length pieces. It was inevitable that the material would lack power, if only because the opportunity for development that gave Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play some of their power

Though War Child has attacks on critics and religion like previous Jethro Tull albums, it's a departure to a new, confusing sound, and album. This album signals standard form song again, after two albums of one continuous song each. Ironically enough, even though it's a return to conventional song forms, the music more awkward than ever. After the harsh criticism Tull received for A Passion Play, the band somehow got the idea that what critics thought was important

One of the Giants in the British prog-rock, especially popular at the beginning of the 1970s. The Group was founded in 1968 in Blackpool by the Scottish singer/flautist Ian Anderson. The group, by her fans affectionately known as ' Tull ", fell on the solid influences from English and Celtic folk music. Also, when prog-rock Jethro Tull remains less popular, a welcome guest on the international stage. Not least because of the strong live shows with Anderson as Trump, who often flute plays standing on one leg. In 1990 the Group surprised friend and foe by a Grammy Award for best heavy metal act ' to win, at the expense of Metallica. Jethro Tull reacts with the for their characteristic humor on the ensuing consternation. They place in an English magazine a full-page ad with the text: ' The flute is a (heavy) metal instrument '.
