Biography: Impure Wilhelmina were formed around 1995 by Michael Schindl (vocals/guitar), David Schindl (drums), Thierry Baertschiger (guitar) and Didier Baertschiger (bass). They made themselves known in their area firstly with a self-titled 7" (1996), the "Undressing Your Soul" MCD (1998) and their first album, "Afraid" (1999). In 2000, Didier left the band and was replaced by Mathias Perrin. They then started touring France, and recorded a split EP with Ordeal (including 2 tracks per band).

Formed in Geneva in 1996, Impure Wilhelmina released a 7, an MCD, Undressing your soul (1998), and a first self-produced album, Afraid (1999). On this album, the band plays a very sludgy and monolithic music, but with a very personal melodic touch. After a first tour in France with Ordeal (Lausanne), Impure Wilhelmina released a split-CD with them, on Division Records.

Founded by vocalist and guitarist Michael Schindl and his brother David on drums in the year 1996, the band from Geneva made a strong impact with their self-released debut album 'Afraid' (1999), which saw the Swiss being regarded on the same level with compatriots such as NOSTROMO and KNUT from the local metallic hardcore scene. During the next years, the line-up of IMPURE WILHELMINA underwent many changes, while revolving around main composer and lyricist Michael Schindl.

Impure Wilhelmina has released a 7’’, an MCD, a split and four albums. Since 2001, the band has significantly collaborated with Serge Morattel for the recording and the production of their music. It is especially the case for the two albums which can be considered as the keystones of the band’s style; I can’t believe I was born in July (2003) and L’amour, la mort, l’enfance perdue (2005). The following album, Prayers and arsons (2008) marks a new step in their evolution with the input of more rock styled elements. Impure Wilhelmina has continued to compose tracks keeping in mind that they must not rest on their laurels. Singing takes up more space and becomes clearer, to reinforce the intensity and the depth of the melodic component. It’s in this state of mind that the band has recorded Black Honey, which was released in early 2014.
