The moment I saw this release I had a hard time believing that it was an official release from Carl, Derrick, or Kenny. I understand that Kenny has an above average sense of humor, considering his brief jaunt in to comedy, but to use a widely recognized piece of internet photo editing as a label center artwork was just unbelievable to me. Derrick has used sexy women in the past as label centers, but they were drawings and they at least had something to do with the music. But on this release Homer Simpson samples are nowhere to be found. That officially makes this a bootleg that with pornographic labels intended to entice blinded male customers in to purchasing, without looking for copyright dates on the labels or listen to the grooves to see if the sound quality is up to par.Boo to the bootleggers in the UK and their betrayal of what Detroit Techno is actually all about: the music.

As in life, individuals & opinions can differ wildly- being from the UK, to me it appears that the origins of bootlegging/sample theft/unofficial pressings came from America & influenced many of us here, and are also at the heart of Detroit and the message it has sent out over the years. It is about the music, thats correct, and in light of this, the art on this release has never bothered me or been contemplated, just the music. Which, incidentally, has been transferred to this vinyl release very professionally & sounds as it should- Ventage is samples of old dusty records, while Wandering & Q sound clean & produced. Can't hear much wrong with this even next to the originals.

@ tekkno-guyThanks for the "review" of the label artwork. Your penetrating insight into your own feeble mental debate over whether this is a bootleg or not, has left your readers clueless as to what the music (or quality of the pressing) actually sounds like. Don't review records you've never listened to.And yes genius, of course it's a bootleg. Spiritual, and parent label Outland, have been out of business for the better part of 10 years now and they're probably not taking out a loan in 2005 to make more copies of a record they only sold a few thousand units of 13 years before. Warp only ever released the 2 Larkin tunes on a very limited 7" inside a double-pack LP. Not to mention Warp's bottom line policy of never reissuing 99% of their classic catalog. In the vinyl biz: no availability + demand = bootleg.Having said all of that, here's a real review...Side one INCOGODO:Classic 92-93 styled Detroit Piano House...uplifting yet somehow moody. If you know records like Urban Culture "The Wonders of Wishing" (another Craig release from this era) and countless records from labels like Serious Grooves, Soiree, etc from this time then you have an idea of what to expect here. If you don't believe me you can listen to both of these on trusty YouTube and get a feel for yourself.Side two KENNY LARKIN:"Wondering" is easily one of Mr. Larkin's deepest outings, especially considering the style of the rest of the Azimuth LP that this 7" gem came with. Where sonically it has some similar elements as other tracks from the album, this is a slower Housey approach to the sound. Stuttered female vocal stabs, TR808 beats and his signature haunting pads glowing warmly over this sparse Detroit funk makes it a sought-after masterpiece. And the bootleg pressing is actually louder and handier than the original on the Larkin side. You're welcome tekkno-guy...that was Record Reviewing 101 for the nominal fee of free.
