Scott was the début solo album by Scott Walker, originally released in the United Kingdom on Philips Records in 1967. The album received both strong commercial success as well as critical praise, hitting No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart. This album, alongside Scott 2, features Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" recording technique, Scott 3 and Scott 4 however do not.
His 1985 album, America, garnered praise for its title track's music video. From this album, the song "If I Ruled the World" became a Top 5 hit on Billboard's R&B chart . Along with Dexter Scott King, Walker produced his most meaningful production "King Holiday", a song to celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday, released in January 1986. He performed as an actor and in music coordination in several feature films including Leon Kennedy’s Knights of the City and the hip hop film Krush Groove. He was host and co-producer for Das Leben Amerikanischer Gangs (1995), an international film production focusing on the West Coast gang scene. Kurtis was recently a producer for the Netflix Show The Get Down. Kurtis has spoken out emphatically against racism. He was an active participant in the Artists Against Apartheid record Sun City.
Kurtis Blow, ‘The Breaks’. Non-album single, 1980. The first rap hit on a major label, peaking at Number 87, was a no-frills joint: a loping bass line and jumping beat with the Harlem-born Blow presiding over playground-party noises and percussion breakdowns. Blow toured extensively behind "The Breaks," taking B-boy culture to mainstream USA while blazing a trail for rappers like Run of Run-DMC, who got his start billing himself "The Son of Kurtis Blow. Producer Pete Rock says that Combs got the idea for the track from hi. I wanted to release music that let people know he was more than just a gangsta rapper, Combs said later. He showed his pain, but in the end he wanted to make people feel good.
Christmas Rappin’ Lyrics. Bout a red-suited dude with a friendly attitude And a sleigh full of goodies for for the people on the block Got a long white beard, maybe looks kind a weird And if you ever see him, he could give you quite a shock.
Kurtis were worn by people from all over the country and were not constrained to any one region of India, although there are distinct regional styles, like the Lucknowi kurta, Hyderabadi kurta, Bhopali kurta, etc. More options than you could wish for. Kurtis are a multi-faceted item of clothing and can be worn with anything, right from churidars and palazzos to leggings and jeans. Shopping for clothing online can seem overwhelming to more people than one might think. To help you keep your favourite pieces looking fresh and new, we have put together a list of wash care instructions that are easy to follow.
Rap music started coming together with record spinning innovations by people like DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flowers, as well as the free-flowing rhyme style of DJ Hollywood - who would in turn set the wheels in motion for putting the sound down on record. The first rap song ever pressed to vinyl was called Rappers Delight, by a rap crew called The Sugarhill Gang. The track broke the R&B top five and gave Kurtis Blow the chance to cash in on the fad by releasing a holiday themed rap, Christmas Rappin'. Undeniably a unique take on dance party music, Kurtis Blow may never receive proper recognition for the work he has done to make an album full of raps.
