The Lexicon of Love is the debut studio album by English pop band ABC. It was released in June 1982 by Neutron Records in the United Kingdom, by Mercury Records in the United States and Japan, and by Vertigo Records in Canada and Europe. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at number one and has been certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The Lexicon of Love II is the ninth studio album by English band ABC. It was released on 27 May 2016 on Virgin EMI, eight years after their previous album Traffic. After a performance of ABC's studio album The Lexicon of Love in concert with Anne Dudley, lead singer of the band Martin Fry felt that it was time to develop a proper follow-up to the album. He wrote over 40 songs for the album with various guest writers and recorded the album with himself and Gary Stevenson producing.
Now pruned to just Martin Fry – albeit with Anne Dudley ladling string arrangements over everything – ABC have deliberately chosen to invoke the memory of their most fondly regarded album The Lexicon of Love, though Fry contends it reflects the more mature attitudes accumulated in the 30-odd intervening years. Hence the Confessions Of A Fool which gives the project its best moment, a mea culpa over youthful indiscretions and machinations aptly set to a fatalistic descending chord structure. We’ll tell you what’s true. You can form your own view.
Tracklist: 1. Show Me, 2. Poison Arrow, 3. Many Happy Returns, 4. Tears Are Not Enough, 5. Valentine’s Day, 6. The Look Of Love (Part One), 7. Date Stamp, 8. All Of My Heart, 9. 4 Ever 2 Gether, 10. The Look Of Love (Part Four). 4. Tears Are Not Enough. 6. The Look Of Love (Part One). 10.
Gorgeously produced, the Lexicon of Love LP remains a timeless classic well into the 21st century Frye still out front and, again, joined by the hugely talented Anne Dudley as they attempt to perpetuate the New Romantic success lavished upon the initial release. As a fan, I, of course, love this LOLII iteration. This "sequel" is a pleasant surprise. A real solid album through and through, with a return to the trademark lush ABC from The Lexicon of Love (I) - but modernized. Martin's voice sounds great. 3 people found this helpful.
Modifier l'album Reporter une erreur. 5. Valentine's Day.
Released in 2016 on Virgin EMI, The Lexicon Of Love II is a self-produced passion project from Fry. Working alongside producer Gary Stevenson and various guest writers, Fry wrote over 40 songs for the album before settling on and recording the 11 tracks which comprise this album.
