It was the first snow of the season i can almost see you breathin in the middle of that empty street. Sometimes i still see myself in that lonesome bedroom playin my guitar and singing songs of hope for a better future. life is only as good as the memories we make and i'm taking back what belongs to me polaroids of classrooms unattended these relics of remembrance are just like shipwrecks only theyre gone faster than the smell after it rains.

I guess we basically recorded "So Long, Astoria" twice. What you are listening to here is that first version of the album. Recorded live in the studio, very little or no overdubs, with the exception of vocals. Tracked by Angus Cooke and Thom Flowers who have worked on pretty much all of our previous albums. Angus also played Cello on several of our records. I feel these demos capture a certain honesty and for a moment at the time we almost actually considered releasing it "as is" and bailing on recording the actual album altogether. So Long, Astoria - The first song on the album opens with distorded power chords before everything kicks in. It's an emotional song. Kris when writing the lyrics for this album went to his hometown and this song is a huge reflection of his childhood. The lyrics are great and it's a nice song. Takeoffs and Landings - This is another pretty emotional song. Hopefully The Ataris take note of the albums critism and release something like Blue Skies or End Is Forever next time. This album is for The Ataris fan only. Not worth it's full price but maybe but it if it's on sale.
