La Dispute spent roughly a year of its existence writing and recording their first full length album, called "Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair," in hopes of accurately displaying their growth both as individuals and as a single artistic unit while creating an end product that encourages the listener to both think and feel.

Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair is the debut album by American post-hardcore band La Dispute. The album's title is derived from an Asian folktale, which the album's lyrics loosely follow. Rooms of the House is the third studio album by American post-hardcore band La Dispute, released on March 18, 2014 through their own label Better Living. Wildlife is the second studio album by American post-hardcore band La Dispute, released October 4, 2011, on independent label No Sleep Records. Recording sessions for the album took place primarily at StadiumRed in New York City in April 2011. The band members took control of all of the production duties alongside the album's recording engineers, Andrew Everding and Joseph Pedulla

The biggest comparison is between Aaron Wiess and La Dispute vocalist Jordan Dreyer. Both of them use the clean emotional singing to the extremely hurt emotional shouts of anger and rage. There's some a slight differences between them though. This album would be much less if it weren’t for this album’s creative playing. The chords shift through some fantastic riffing throughout the whole album. Seamlessly dividing between clean and distorted parts, sometimes combining them at the same time, the guitar players are the main focus of the group. They aren’t incredibly technical in a sense, but they are extremely tight. But where there is no insane technicality, there is experimentation.

Because of course, the album is immature. Vocalist Jordan Dreyer was only 21 when this album came out; his breathless spoken word parts, and raw, passionate voice-breaking screams and all. That’s completely insane to me as a g 23-year-old man.

La Dispute floored me and my band members in such a way that I can still mentally revisit that show in my head and play it out perfectly. Now that we’ve toured together, made music together, I listen to that album and still very much appreciate the angst of it. It sounds like a band very hungry who are wearing each members influences in their playing. is unapologetically earnest. On a fundamental level it combines spoken word and screamo – two forms of expression that, even in isolation, are almost impossible to bring up in conversation without someone taking the piss.
