Released 13 years after Ritual de lo habitual (1990), the album marks the band's longest gap between full studio albums, although the group had recorded and released two new songs six years prior on the compilation album Kettle Whistle (1997). Strays is the first album to feature bassist Chris Chaney.
The 49-year-old actress stepped out for the event on Saturday (March 4) in Hamburg, Germany. She was joined by Jane Fonda, also looking glam in red, white, and black. Also in attendance were Colin Farrell and Ed Sheeran, who both suited up for the show. Later in the night, Ed – who just released his hot new album Divide – took home the Goldene Camera award for Best International musician.
Ritual de lo Habitual, the band’s second studio album (and third overall), still represents the ultimate expression of Jane’s Addiction’s unique musical and lyrical vision. Released 25 years ago, on August 21st, 1990, the record contained some of the band’s catchiest songs - like Stop! and the dog-bark-assisted Been Caught Stealing, both of which reached Number One on the Modern Rock charts - as well as such enduring epics as Then She Did. and Three Days. In honor of the 25th anniversary of Ritual de lo Habitual‘s release, Farrell and Navarro took Rolling Stone on a track-by-track walk through the album’s nine songs. So throughout the track, you can hear all kinds of notes that are completely out of tune and not musically accurate, but it works. And it kind of creates that sloppy, Harry Connick J. style piano thrashing that’s in line with the track.

According to lead singer Perry Farrell, there was an actual Jane - with an actual heroin habit and an abusive boyfriend named Sergio - who lived with him and nearly a dozen others in a group house in Hollywood as the band was forming in the early '80s
Perry Farrell reflects on Jane's Addiction as he marks the 25th anniversaries of "Ritual de lo Habitual" & Lollapalooza. You’ll hear the album in its entirety, including maybe half a dozen songs you’ll never hear again. So it’s been fun to practice them and refamiliarize ourselves with some of these songs we haven’t played in 25 years. Now, I have a new project, Kind Heaven, that will come out next year. And if I would have been just in Jane’s Addiction, I doubt we would have gotten to Kind Heaven. I’m so, so, so excited about Kind Heaven.
