Thunderbolt is the twenty-second studio album by British heavy metal band Saxon, released on 2 February 2018. A month later, frontman Biff Byford revealed they had written a song dedicated to Motörhead called "They Played Rock n Roll", following the death of frontman Lemmy on 28 December 2015, which ended the band's 40-year history.

Includes a download of the album Thunderbolt & Lightning. This album was recorded live at the High Watt in Nashville, TN on March 28th, 2016.

British heavy metal legends SAXON will release their 22nd studio album, "Thunderbolt", on February 2 via Militia Guard (Silver Lining Music). The follow-up to 2015's "Battering Ram" was once again helmed by producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH, ACCEPT and TESTAMENT, among others. The disc will feature original artwork by longtime SAXON collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.

And now they’ve gone and done that with new album Thunderbolt. After skirting round the edges with their previous two albums under the watchful eye of producer Andy Sneap, this time the partnership truly blossoms. It’s not that there’s a feeling of both parties being comfortable with one another here, it’s actually more the opposite.
