Complete your Swing Out Sister collection. Normally this sort of female lead pop isnt my cup of tea but Ill be damned how well thought out this album is today as it was 2 decades ago. Jazz infused electro pop with nice orchestrations and a phenomenally sexy female vocalist who knows her vocal limitations and excels at creativity within her range.

Swing Out Sister and their first album became part of the defining sound of British pop of 1987. A fifth single, ‘Fooled By A Smile,’ followed the LP release, so that all but four tracks from the vinyl version became singles. As well as Drewery’s assured vocals and the group’s admirable songcraft, their instrumental prowess was summed up by the closing ‘Theme (From ‘It’s Better To Travel’). On the UK chart of 23 May 1987, It’s Better To Travel entered at No. 1, its first of two weeks there, and seven in the top ten. The album reached.

It's Better to Travel doesn't disappoint. It actually covers a fair amount of ground (cf. Fooled By a Smile to Communion) and doesn't have a single unpleasant track. It has that 80s synth sound to it, but on the other hand, it has a jazzy sound as well. Corinne's young British accent is also really pronounced on this album that one can't help but sing along in the same manner :D Classic songs such as "Breakout" and "Twilight World" will take you back to some of your good old days. But the best ones are "Surrender", "Blue Mood", and "It's Not Enough" (she really sounds like Basia on this one). You might want to skip the remixes at the end. Some of them do the original songs no justice
