Leonardo "Flaco" Jiménez (born March 11, 1939) is a Norteño, Tex Mex and Tejano music accordionist and singer from San Antonio, Texas. Jiménez began performing at the age of seven, with his father, Santiago Jiménez Sr, who was a pioneer of conjunto music and began recording at age fifteen as a member of Los Caminantes. He played in the San Antonio area for several years and then began working with Doug Sahm in the 1960s.

Later on in the album, other songs with Cooder hold a less Tex-Mex feel, partially due to the instrumentation, but partly as well due to the change in mood or style from the musicians themselves. They're more relaxed on the Cooder sessions. Again though, the bouncing throb of the conjunto bass returns to pull the listener back to a San Antonio parking lot.
