Dark Horses is the tenth studio album by Australian musician, Jon English. The album was co-produced by English and former Sebastian Hardie band member, Mario Millo. It was released in Australia in May 1987, following a 4-year break where he returned to the theatre playing in Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera The Pirates of Penzance, winning three consecutive 'Entertainer of the Year' Mo Awards between 1983-85.

Show Some Emotion is a studio album by British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, released in 1977 on A&M. It reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, No. 52 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart, and No. 18 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart. Armatrading's 1979 live album Steppin' Out contains two tracks from Show Some Emotion, "Mama Mercy" and "Kissin' and a Huggin'".

Jonathan James "Jon" English (26 March 1949 – 9 March 2016) was an English-born Australian singer, songwriter, musician and actor. He emigrated from England to Australia with his parents in 1961. He was an early vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Sebastian Hardie but left to take on the role of Judas Iscariot in the Australian version of the stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar from May 1972, which was broadcast on television.

Emotion was Barbra’s first pop studio album since 1980’s huge hit, Guilty. Barbra was busy for three years producing, writing, directing, and starring in Yentl and it was now time to return to the studio for a new album for Columbia Records. Emotion may have suffered from too many cooks in the kitchen and an abundance of producers (nine), whereas Guilty had the singular vision of Barry Gibb. Streisand and her team began collecting songs for the album. One song considered was by Roger Edelman and titled Over and Over (Am I Strong Enough). I'd gotten a call from Jon Peters to write a duet to sing with her. While I was extremely flattered, I said, "Let me think about it. I'll try my best.
