It was written by Riperton and Richard Rudolph, produced by Rudolph and Stevie Wonder, and released as the album's fourth single on March 14, 1975. The song peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 on April 5, 1975. Additionally, it reached number two on the UK Singles chart, and number three on the Billboard R&B chart.
Lovin' You is a song from Minnie Riperton’s 1975 album Perfect Angel. It was written by Minnie and her husband Richard Rudolph (who also produced the song with Stevie Wonder). The song was written as a distraction for her daughter. He asked Riperton and songwriter-husband Richard Rudolph to come up with a tune that they considered to be their most embarrassing song. With hesitation, Riperton did mention a lullaby she sang to her daughter Maya to put her to sleep at night so that she and Rudolph could spend grown-up time.
