Produced by Junior Boys. Get you through the water Keep the new car up all night Had you in the city They're watching, so I'll take my time When the lights go out Behind the bridge, last exit Through the highway's yellow glare Have we been out this far? When you think you're falling You can change your face again If you think you're falling Know I'll catch you just the same.

Junior Boys are a Canadian electronic pop group, founded in 1999 in Hamilton, Ontario by Jeremy Greenspan and Johnny Dark. Dark left the project shortly after, and was replaced by engineer Matt Didemus. The duo initially gained critical praise for their 2003 single "Birthday" and 2004 debut album Last Exit.

Last Exit is the debut studio album by Canadian electronic music group Junior Boys. It was released on June 7, 2004 by KIN Records in the United Kingdom and on September 21, 2004 by Domino Recording Company in the United States. The album was promoted by two singles: "Birthday" and "High Come Down". Writing for Pitchfork, Scott Plagenhoef praised the album for its "deceptively simple and very approachable tracks" and remarked that songwriter Jeremy Greenspan was able "to fold elements of nearly a quarter-century of forward-looking pop into a distinct sound without sounding either.

Hamilton, Ontario's Junior Boys know about this post-millennial form of word-of-mouth all too well. After trying unsuccessfully to get labels interested in their new form of electro-pop (they were rejected by every label they approached), they were asked by a friend to post some MP3s on his web site, and not long after that, the critics came a-knockin', and the group's leader, Jeremy Greenspan, found himself sending copies. of his demo to interested writers instead of labels. The highlights of Last Exit remain the tracks that were released back in 2003. The title track is even more minimal in its production than the rest of the album, with only the barest, sparsest hint of sharp, sparse beats, some tiny synth chords that lightly flutter in and out of the mix, and an incredibly subtle bassline, as Greenspan sings in a hushed tone.

Junior Boys, Last Exit. Over the past 12 months, Canadian trio Junior Boys have generated more purple prose on internet blogs than anybody except Dizzee Rascal, but they couldn't be more different. While Dizzee's innovations thwack the listener over the head, the quietly radical music on Last Exit hovers around the edges of your eardrums.

Junior Boys have taken an approach to pop music that encompasses an audible encyclopedia of what's been pop in the last twenty decades, and have filtered it through a not only a post-romantic styling, but with a degree in the Morgan Geist guide to production. They even manage to one up Geist's sequency disco like a Greek philospher teaching his own mentor. "More Than Real" comes in with a gratuitous amount of sparse drum machined antics, setting the tone for this r 'n' b cum detroit styled lp. It immediately tells you this is nothing you've heard before. Not like this. It's wonderful to hear that Junior Boys were a lovesick stalker before their heart's get destroyed during "So This Is Goodbye." Another breed of tightly stitched perfection swims out of the breathy confessionalism of "Bellona." You begin to bite your lip as you realize this could be a D. Child song without that voice. This is blue-eyed future soul, if it is to categorized. Another beast all together, "High Come Down" has the syncopation equivalence to the most underground of dub-step. A nervous drummer trying to get a mosquito off his drumset interjects the soft echo of the high school single of the summer. The Boys wave this new flag, however leisurely, that their brand of pop is a chilly cavern of lust fed through a wide history of styles.
