Exodus is the ninth studio album by Jamaican reggae band Bob Marley and the Wailers, first released in June 1977 through Island Records following Rastaman Vibration (1976). On 3 December 1976, an assassination attempt was made on Bob Marley's life in which his chest was grazed and his arm was struck with a bullet, but he survived. Following the assassination attempt Marley left Jamaica and was exiled to London where Exodus was recorded.

In the wake of the assassination attempt, Marley and his band left Jamaica and settled in London for two years, where he recorded 1977's Exodus. Thematically, Exodus represented a subtle but significant shift for Marley; while he continued to speak out against political corruption and for freedom and equality for Third World people, his lyrics dealt less with specifics and more with generalities and the need for peace and love (though "So Much Things to Say," "Guiltiness," and "The Heathen" demonstrate the bullets had taken only so much.
Produced by Bob Marley & The Wailers. Exodus: Movement of Jah people! Oh-oh-oh, yea-eah! Men and people will fight ya down (Tell me why!) When ya see Jah light (!) Let me tell you if you're not wrong; (Then, why?) Everything is all right So we gonna walk - all right! - through de roads of creation: We the generation (Tell me why!) (Trod through great tribulation) trod through great tribulation. Exodus, all right! Movement of Jah people Oh, yeah! O-oo, yeah!

Exodus is a roots reggae album by Bob Marley & The Wailers from 1977, which is generally regarded as his best album. The album was recorded almost entirely in London. It was their eleventh studio album, even though the first eight were released under the name The Wailers. When the band also included Bunny Livingston and Peter Tosh. The singles from the album were Jamming, Waiting in Vain and One Love, People Get Ready. But Three Little Birds and Natural Mystic are to the best of Marley counted.
If any album could be declared Bob Marley’s masterpiece, it was Exodus. Recorded during a period of exile in London in the aftermath of a gun attack on Marley’s home in Jamaica, it was a musical statement of towering authority which combined visions of Biblical drama with profound expressions of solidarity and tender personal feelings. Released on 3 June 1977, it housed a string of Marley’s biggest and best-loved hits: ‘Jamming’, ‘Waiting In Vain’, ‘Three Little Birds’, ‘One Love/People Get Ready’ and, of course, the title track.
Bob Marley & the Wailers' classic Exodus album, the ninth studio album of the band, was released on June 3, 1977, featuring a new backing band including brothers Carlton and Aston 'Family Man' Barrett on drums and bass, Tyrone Downie on keyboards, Alvin 'Seeco' Patterson on percussion, and the I Threes, Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths and Rita Marley on backing vocals, and newest member. Julian 'Junior Marvin' on guitar
