His early musical experience involved learning to play the piano accordion. When he left school he took on an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker and he began singing with a band called 'Elm Tree'. The group's one and only single was "Rainbow"/"Lonely Nights", which was released late in 1970 and was basically a flop

John Paul Young had a handful of hits in the 70&.Most well-known is "Love is in the Air" which has become a disco-classic. Many of these songs are in the same vein as "Love is in the Air", so if like that song, you& like "Lost in Your Love", "Yesterday& Hero" and "Standing in The Rain". Most af the songs are witten by George Young and Harry Vanda from Easybeats and Flash and the Pan. Personally I would have preferred to hear these songs performed by Vanda/Young themselves.
