DJ Niel - Under My Skin album flac

During the 2000's I was continually impressed by DJ Niel. All his records on Coolman Records and Rotterdam Records (with DJ Kristof from Belgium) were always worth checking out. Naturally I was a fan of his record label Zero Tolerance, I've decided to highlight this record as it captures the different styles of DJ Niel. Under My Skin is a lovely melodic Dutch Hardcore track. This was a decade where big Trance-like melodies were successful in the scene and this is DJ Niel's excellent attempt at such a track. The melody seems to subscribe to the K.I.S.S method: Keep It Simple, Stupid. A very uplifting, simple Trance riff with a significantly slower kickdrum, even on plus 8 on a turntable! Also the harsh off beat hi-hats are unusual in a track like this. Rebellion is a faster tune at around 170 bpm. It's more spaced out (read: not much going on) Dark Hardcore. DJ Niel had previously written darker tracks that were good, in fact Zero Tolerance would release music that could be considered Darkcore. Despite sounding like Evil Activities and Dione from 2000-2002, it's a song your needle won't spend much time on.Rebellion (OpA_Calypse Remix) is further proof B2 tracks are the diamond in the rough. Bearing practically no resemblance to the B1 track, it's more an original track than a remix. Once again it's very slow, however this accentuates this particular kickdrum, and as a result it has this super deep feel to it. But it's all about what's happening on top of the deep kickdrum. In what I can only describe as: fantastically psychotic Analogue synth riffs!! Not only is it a pleasure on your ears, it seems to be "slicing" through the track. After a brief lull in proceedings (well it's a breakdown!), DJ Niel does something that makes the second half of the track even better than the first half (which is already glorious), he gives the synth riff a much higher pitch. If the hair on the back of my neck is any indication, I would call this an exhilarating feeling! To put this in context, nobody was making music like this in 2005, it definitely has a Cenobite Records feel to it, which is probably why I love it. Amazing track on a very good record.
