My InterpretationThe title "Sleepyhead" appears to me a description of someone who appears, quite literally, very sleepy: this person is suffering from an injury or terminal illness. He/she enters a coma, and is kept on life support against their wishes. The first verse concerning fire is, to me, the sufferer describing the pain of the affliction, which seems to have a manifestation in the eyes ("brims"). At one point, the sufferer was "one inch from the edge of this bed," .
