Flying Microtonal Banana is the ninth studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. It was released on 24 February 2017 on Flightless Records in Australia, ATO Records in the United States, and Heavenly Recordings in the United Kingdom. It is the first of five albums released by the band in 2017. The album earned the band a nomination for Best Group at the ARIA Music Awards of 2017.

Melbourne-based psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard released their ninth studio album on 24 February 2017. Flying Microtonal Banana features nine tracks, all recognisable by the band’s signature blend of oddball instrumentals and psychedelic melodies. The first of five albums that feature microtonal tuning set to be released in 2017, Flying Microtonal Banana was introduced with the release of their single Rattlesnake. Singles Nuclear Fusion and Sleep Drifter followed. While not as driven as their previous project Nonagon Infinity, Flying Microtonal Banana is an ambitious album. The album is packed full of interesting sounds and strange melodies. The ntal sound of this album is worth checking out for both new and old KGATLW listeners.
