Still Life were a one album band whose only recordings are contained on this self titled release. The band arose from the ashes of Coventry outfitThe PEEPS, who became the RAINBOWS.

Biography by Laura Post. Distinctive Canadian folk singer-songwriter whose gritty style helped birth a 1990s underground movement. In October of 1985, Ferron received a Canadian Council Arts Grant, enabling her to take a much-needed year off, ostensibly to write and take voice lessons but also to recover a long-neglected personal life. Recognizing that she would need more time than a year to fully heal from the hardships of the road and the vagaries of the business, Ferron remained withdrawn from the spotlight. After the grant money ran out, she earned a living by laboring as a carpenter's assistant and a bartender, and by doing day care. This major-label association proved short-lived, however. Ferron next released an album of cover songs, Inside Out: The IMA Sessions, under the auspices of The Institute for the Musical Arts in 1999.

Still Life is the fourth studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. The album was produced and engineered by Opeth alongside Fredrik Nordström, and released on 18 October 1999 through Peaceville Records. It was the first Opeth album to be released through Peaceville, following their departure from Candlelight and Century Black after the release of My Arms, Your Hearse, and the first album to feature Martin Mendez.

While still based in Vancouver, Ferron established her own record label, Lucy Records, and released her self-titled debut album in 1977. The album was recorded in a video studio on two-track equipment, and, as she stated, "the production quality was pretty poor"  . Between 1992 and 1994, Ferron released three albums on her own Cherrywood Station label (Not a Still Life 1992, Resting with the Question 1922, Driver 1993). The twelve song Driver was first licensed by EarthBeat! Records in 1994, and was highly acclaimed by critics as a masterwork and nominated for a Juno Award in 1995. Following this success, Ferron signed to Warner Bros. enabling her to create Still Riot in the studio with producer db Benedictson for release in the fall of 1996. During her brief tenure with Warner they released Driver as a re-issue

In addition to being one of Canada's most famous folk musicians, she is one of the most influential writers and performers of women's music, and an important influence on later musicians such as Ani DiFranco and the Indigo Girls. Ferron is featured in the documentary on women's music, Radical Harmonies 2002.
