Bette Davis saw "The Man Who Came to Dinner" on Broadway and immediately wanted to play the role of Maggie, the antithesis of her usual roles. She wanted the role desperately because she wanted to act opposite John Barrymore who was to play Sheridan Whiteside. At her insistence, Warner Bros. Monty Woolley will always be remembered for his role in this movie, but to me the interesting things about watching this film 60 years after it was made, is the supporting cast. Firstly, there is Bette Davis taking a back seat somewhat in a role that is hardly demanding technically, but one which she underplays very well.

General Richard Lizurey, Director General of France's Gendarmerie Nationale, pays tribute to Lieutenant Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, who died of his injuries after swapping places with a hostage in a terror attack in Trébes near Caracassonne. A Catholic monk said French gendarme Arnaud Beltrame's 'superhuman sacrifice' on Friday had been inspired by his immense religious faith. The hero died from his wounds on Saturday.

Like the Prioress, the Monk is all sorts of things that, as a religious figure, he should probably not be – a hunter, overfed, expensively-dressed in fur and gold jewelry, and a cultivator of expensive habits. This part of the Monk's portrait foreshadows the interaction between the Monk and the Host after the Tale of Melibee. With the Monk's portrait, we see another satire of religious figures who are supposed to live a monastic life of deprivation and hard work, but instead live a life of luxury and ease.

The Ziff Who Came to Dinner" is the fourteenth episode of Season 15. Marge's old prom date Artie Ziff returns to Springfield, having lost his money and his Internet business, and asks to stay with the Simpsons until he gets back on his feet. What Artie doesn't tell them is that he's also a fugitive from justice, sought by the SEC for cheating his stockholders.

Pete Townshend's first solo album was a homespun, charming forum for low-key, personal songs that weren't deemed suitable for the Who, as well as spiritual paeans (direct and indirect) to his spiritual guru, Meher Baba. Who fans will be immediately attracted by the presence of a couple of songs from the aborted Who concept album Lifehouse (much of which ended up on Who's Next), "Pure & Easy" and "Let's See Action. The Who did eventually release their own versions of both those songs

Lyrics from the album BLACK MONK TIME (recorded November, 1965). All tracks written by Gary Burger/Larry Spangler/David Havlicek/Roger Johnston/Thomas Shaw. BLACK MONK TIME was an anomaly, even for The Monks. The cold nihilistic perfection, gleaming like a diamond bullet, seemed too much to bear even for the inventors of uberbeat.
