The Leisure Society is an English rock band formed by Nick Hemming and Christian Hardy of Burton upon Trent. Hemming was formerly of early 1990s indie band She Talks to Angels, which included actor Paddy Considine, film director Shane Meadows and bassist Richard Eaton. Hemming wrote and performed music for the films A Room for Romeo Brass and Dead Man's Shoes. He was also a member of The Telescopes.
The Sleeper is the first studio album by English indie folk band The Leisure Society. Their self-produced debut album, The Sleeper was initially released on 30 March 2009 on Willkommen Records. It received lavish critical praise, being named a Rough Trade album of 2009.
The Leisure Society have introduced their bold new double album 'Arrivals & Departures'. The record lands on April 12th, and comes almost exactly 10 years after the release of the band's debut single. Yet the process behind the LP wasn't exactly easy. Eager to record string and choral sections for the record, The Leisure Society even snuck into London's Union Chapel for some late night sessions - with guest voices including Brian Eno and the poet Liz Berry.
