Rich Nice is a rapper with something of the awareness of a good beat poet, as well as the simplicity and directness of a street rhymer. He has also allowed himself to be encased in a solid production that sticks to original things, rather than swiping samples from every direction - here, the sampling is confined to sound bites, usually to snappy, intelligent, effect. Information to Raise a Nation" fits neatly with that. It's not all so stentorian, though - the album opens up with the uptempo fun of "The Rhythm, The Feeling," and later kicks in with "It's Time to Get Hype. It's only with "Desperado" that things start to get a little serious, and even then there's "Trouble Man," a very odd Better Rapper Than Anybody number. This album has managed quite a feat - Rich Nice would have been somebody to keep an eye on in the future. Alas, he seems to have settled for behind the scenes work.
