After the success of his major label debut, To the Extreme, Vanilla Ice was faced with the task of coming up with something to prove that he wasn't just a one-trick pony. As a result, his third album, Mind Blowin', saw Ice reemerging with a sound entirely different from that of his first two releases. Ice's trademark flow remained, but the music diverged from traditional hip hop to rap-infused funk, performed mostly by a live band, rather than through samples. The result is something truly distinctive and original, and one of Ice's best efforts
