It tells the story of so called Benandantes, the witches fighting for the crop, good and the prosperity of the society or better to say of the community. There is few other legendary and mythological stories connected to the one of Benandantes, like the ones of the Wild Hunt or the ones of Heathen Goddess - Perchta or Holda.

The music of the band could be described as "pagan black metal", resp. paganized metal" due to the terminology of the band itself. First songs were recorded in 2004/5 as a home demo recordings.

Panychida Founded in 2004 in the city of Pilsen, CZ, Panychida got inspired from old legends and different philosophical sources. Soon after recording the first album a contract with German FOLTER RECORDS was signed. During the years and after 2 full length and one EP, Panychida became one of the leading czech pagan/black/black´n´roll bands. The new record "Grief for an Idol" takes it all one step further.
