Dear Jessie" is a song by Madonna from her fourth studio album, Like a Prayer. It was released as the fourth single from the album on December 10, 1989. Madonna wrote this with Patrick Leonard. The song is a pop lullaby which displays Madonna's maternal side. It was written for Patrick Leonard's daughter, Jessie. Patrick Leonard had to pick up his daughter Jessie from school and, since his wife was out of town, had to bring her back to the studio
Перевод текста песни Dear Jessie исполнителя (группы) Madonna (Мадонна). Pink elephants and lemonade, dear Jessie. Розовые слоны и лимонад, дорогая Джесси, Hear the laughter running through the love parade. Послушай, как волна смеха проносится сквозь парад любви. Candy kisses and a sunny day, dear Jessie. Леденцовые поцелуи в солнечный день, дорогая Джесси, See the roses raining on the love parade.
Dear Jessie was written and produced by Madonna and Patrick Leonard and was inspired by Leonard’s young daughter, Jessie, with whom Madonna had developed a special connection. The psychedelia-infused reflection on childhood fantasy and innocence was particularly poignant within the context of the Like A Prayer album’s sequencing, with its segue into Oh Father offering a stark musical and emotional contrast that is perhaps one of the most effective in Madonna’s body of work. Always more interesting when not seeking novelty, Madonna hit artistic and commercial gold with Like A Prayer, her best and least contrived album. The title track, all swirling choruses and kitchen – sink production, remains her major statement, but Express Yourself was ferocious dance, while on the rarely lauded Dear Jessie she had never sounded so human.
Released only in select territories, "Dear Jessie" hit No. 5 in the . but was never issued in America. The video for the single was only released overseas. The clip later surfaced on . television in occasional Madonna retrospectives. The video is animated, and it features, among other things, pink elephants. Madonna does not appear in the video).
