Free the Bees is the second album from British band The Bees in 2004. Their first release for Virgin Records, it is also the first album to feature the current sextet that evolved during the tour that promoted debut album Sunshine Hit Me. However, all the members had performed with core duo Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher before the album was produced, whether in other projects or simply in informal jams.

All name inquiries aside, Free The Bees really is a great album. He tracks are as diverse as they could possibly be without straying from the late 60s vibe. Chicken Payback runs on an amped up, very danceable guitar riff while the singer spits out meaningless lyrics about paying back various types of animals. One Glass Of Water, the album highlight, is 60s garage rock in all of its hyperactive, wild glory, sounding like it’s constantly trying to get ahead of itself. A few Beatles-like ballads round out Free The Bees’ sound, with Hourglass leading the pack
Band of Bees second album Free the Bees is a rollicking, breathtaking romp through the '60s, calling to mind classic band after classic band but also conjuring up a modern and original sound of their own. "These Are the Ghosts," the CD's opening track, gives us echoes of the psychedelic-era Small Faces, the Kinks circa Village Green Preservation Society, and even, at times, Pink Floyd circa Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
