Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" is a 1950's song written by Clyde Otis, Murray Stein and Brook Benton. Originally titled "You've Got What It Takes", the song was first recorded by Benton's sister, Dorothy Pay, in 1958, as the B-side of her single "Strollin' with My Baby" on Mercury 71277. It was then recorded more successfully as a duet by Dinah Washington and Brook Benton, in their first collaboration. The single was very successful on both the pop and R&B charts.

Album: Greatest Hits (1960). Bobby Parker told the Forgotten Hits newsletter in 2008: "I wrote 'You've Got What It Takes,' that was MY song. Even had The Paul Hucklebuck Band playing on it behind me. I performed with them for seven or eight years - you remember that song 'Do The Hucklebuck And on January 11th, 1960 it reached {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart, the two weeks it was at the record for both those weeks was "Smokie, Part II" by Bill Black's Combo.
