Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 30: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 30: I. Allegro ma non tanto by André Watts. The powerful Watts/Ozawa interpretation of Rachmaninov's Concerto is wonderous in it's beauty and deft navigation of this magnificent piece. The & ma non tanto' in particular is absolutely stunning. I've listened to it for decades and the effect is no less stunning each time. Phillipe Entremont,Lenny, and the renowned New York Phil did their best (if not, one of the best) on Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto, and I really love it personally. Published on April 13, 2004.

The Piano Concerto No. 30, composed in 1909 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, has the reputation of being one of the most technically challenging piano concertos in the standard classical repertoire. Following the form of a standard concerto, the piece is in three movements: Allegro ma non tanto (D minor → B♭ major → A minor → D Minor). The first movement revolves around a diatonic melody that soon develops into complex pianistic figuration.

Sergei Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. Vasily Petrenko conductor. Nikolai Lugansky piano. An ominous mood looms over the orchestra as the piano plays the principal theme at the beginning of Piano Concerto No. The theme is a captivatingly simple one, with what many would describe as a Russian colour. What follows is no ordinary Romantic solo concerto, but one of the most breakneck journeys a pianist can undertake. Many who harbour the ambition of performing this glorious milestone of a concerto have stumbled in the technical nightmare which awaits them.

18, is a concerto for piano and orchestra composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff between the autumn of 1900 and April 1901. The second and third movements were first performed with the composer as soloist on 2 December 1900. The complete work was premiered, again with the composer as soloist, on 9 November 1901, with his cousin Alexander Siloti conducting. This piece is one of Rachmaninoff's most enduringly popular pieces, and established his fame as a concerto composer.
