Lassigue Bendthaus, until that point, was musically categorized as EBM, even though part of the success of Matter may have been the fact that it didn't quite fit the category and already incorporated musical elements of the 1990s. Uwe Schmidt played his first live show as Lassigue Bendthaus as the opening act for the British group Meat Beat Manifesto at the Frankfurt Batschkapp in 1989. In 1993 Schmidt released the follow up album to Matter: Lassigue Bendthaus' Cloned. Cloned was produced and licensed to Contempo Records together with a sample CD titled Cloned:Binary which contained the sounds used on the original album. Contempo Records went bankrupt in 1993. Due to open payments by those labels, lack of a recording studio and unresolved recording contracts, Schmidt decided to take some months off and lived for half a year in Costa Rica (end of 1992 until early 1993).

Uwe Schmidt is basically the Dumbledore of programming and sequencing, as good as (if not better than) Richard D James of Aphex Twin. The meticulous detail of the synths, drums, and effects on Matter was so far ahead of the trash that EBM counterparts like Frontline Assembly were throwing out in 1991 that it's not even funny. This re-release from Dark Entries captures that production talent in timeless wax. The remastering job is perfect; noticeably richer and deeper than my old CD. The vinyl itself is pristine; zero surface noise, and not even a hint of crackle. The stereo field is wide and appreciable. And the artwork is an elegant refresh from the original's boring postcard on a green field. Compliments to Dark Entries for knocking it out of the park on all levels. If you have any interest in early 90s genre-establishing EBM, this is right up there with Front 242.

YET, FLA released "Tactical Neural Implant" the very next year. Arguably one of the best EBM albums in history. It's ok to say you don't like FLA (it's almost always been in fashion to do so). It's also ok to say LB had better detail and depth. BUT, give credit where credit is due. There's a reason EBM DJ's pull out FLA stuff far more than LB. Depth and detail are great when you're listening to headphones at home. But, when you want to amp the dance floor with killer tunes, simple and effective will do, if it's done well.

EBM was established in the 80s by Front 242. And I know plenty of people that prefer FLA over Lassigue Bendthaus any day. This is a great album, but I probably wouldn't suggest it if you like 242 and FLA or even Skinny Puppy. This is more experimental and like Graphicpush said this is a little like Aphex Twin in the programming. Uwe Schmidt has more aliases than Trump has Russian connections.
