Career Suicide Machine Response (Deranged). It’s been 11 years since Career Suicide released their landmark Attempted Suicide album and in that time they’ve seen the death of their original drummer Brandon Ferrell, as well, they’ve seen guitarist Jonah Falco join up as a full time member of Fucked Up. They’ve also had to deal with the expectations of producing an album that lives up to their previous one. The band has had a lot to deal with in the years since their last full length. But they’ve been steadily building to this point.

Machine Response, Career Suicide’s first release since 2008 (aside from a prelude EP of the same name that appeared late last year), shows the rewards of their craftsman-like commitment to a familiar form-hardcore not as a template to expand, or as a style to flee, but as a sort of aspirational ideal. That means the songs are punchy and concise, animated by Falco’s blocky riffs and Martin Farkas’ breathless bark
