Mystery Train is a 1989 independent anthology film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch and set in Memphis, Tennessee. The film is a triptych of stories involving foreign protagonists, unfolding over the course of the same night.
John Lurie who you saw last month in ‘Paris, Texas’ as the pimp watching over the girls in the peep show lounge, composed the original score for this film. Joe Strummer, the very cool founder and lead singer of London punk band ‘The Clash’ is the English character called ‘Elvis’ in the final story. This is a shorter film though at only 105 minutes.
The soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch's excellent film about various intersecting characters in the underbelly of Memphis is divided between vintage Memphis rock-soul and John Lurie's atmospheric score. Most of Lurie's compositions are delicate miniatures built around spare, reverbed guitar lines that evoke a haunted, late-night Delta vista.
Movie directed by jim jarmusch!!songs include mystery train-elvis, pain in my heart by otis reading and many more. The years 1953 and 1954, like the previous few and many more to come, were artistically prosperous ones for Parker, an excellent singer and harp player then recording with his Blues Flames on Sam Phillips's famous Sun label. featuring Jim Jarmusch is considered one of the founding fathers of US independent film. Film historians have classified the work of directors such as Jim Jarmusch, Hal Hartley, Steven Soderbergh and Spike Lee as independent cinema. Over the years, Jarmusch especially has become an icon for this kind of cinema, which focused on stories that happened far away from the world of Hollywood glitz and glamour. Jarmusch's 1980 debut, "Permanent Vacation," is a landmark cinematic work. Follow-up films "Stranger than Paradise" (1984) and "Down by Law" (1986) solidified the reputation of this director born in Ohio on January 22, 1953
