The combination of these Percy Faith albums (Hollywood's Greatest Themes from 1962 and Love Goddesses from 1964) provides pleasant interpretations of Broadway and Hollywood standards. The love theme melodies from Ben Hur, Splendor in the Grass, and El Cid coupled with "Maria" (West Side Story), "Moon River" (Breakfast at Tiffany's), and "I Enjoy Being a Girl" (Flower Drum Song) hold up exceptionally well. These LPs were originally released on Columbia Records and had been out of print until Collectables reissued them in 2002.

Percy Faith recorded the most popular version of the theme, an instrumental orchestral arrangement, at the Columbia 30th Street Studio in New York City  . In 1961, Mantovani recorded an orchestral rendition of the theme for his album Mantovani Plays Music From 'Exodus' and Other Great Themes; the album reached the Top Ten on the UK charts.
