One of the Boys is the second studio album, and the first mainstream album under the name of Katy Perry. The album was first released on June 17, 2008 in the United States and Canada. The theme of the songs on the album are very different, and more pop, than Perry's first self-titled album, Katy Hudson. An EP, Ur So Gay, which contains the album's promotional single, "Ur So Gay", was released to generate interest on the singer and the then-upcoming album.
Full of bubbly songs and risqué references, One of the Boys is the second studio album by American artist Katy Perry. Released in 2008, the album served as Perry’s re-introduction to the world of music (after having previously released an album under the name Katy Hudson), and thus is actually her first studio album released as Katy Perry. Lyrically and thematically, the album largely explores uous and annoyed ideas of romance and sexuality, as well as a few songs about overcoming struggles and self-discovery.

All the pros give One of the Boys a cross-platform appeal, but there's little question that its revolting personality is all down to Perry, who distills every reprehensible thing about the age of The Hills reality show into one pop album. She disses her boyfriend with gay-baiting; she makes out with a girl and she's doesn't even like girls; she brags to a suitor that he can't afford her, parties till she's face-down in the porcelain, drops brands as if they were weapons, curses casually, and trades under-the-table favors.
