Hemis Monastery is one of the ancient monasteries in Ladakh. The Hemis Festival is celebrated in June every year which pulls in tourists from all over the world. During the Hemis Tsechu held in the year of the Monkey of the Tibetan Calendar, one can see the sacred applique work along with tapestry wrought with pearls depicting the image of Guru Padmasambhava.

Folk Songs will be released on June 9, 2017. For more than 40 years, San Francisco's Kronos Quartet-David Harrington and John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello)-has combined a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually re-imagine the string quartet experience. The album was Grammy nominated, and Giddens received the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Singer of the Year. Giddens, who studied opera at Oberlin, made her acting debut with a recurring role on the CMT television drama Nashville this season. Earlier this year she won the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Bluegrass and Banjo.

Folk Songs is a song cycle by the Italian composer Luciano Berio composed in 1964. It consists of arrangements of folk music from various countries and other songs, forming "a tribute to the extraordinary artistry" of the American singer Cathy Berberian, a specialist in Berio's music. It is scored for voice, flute (doubling on piccolo), clarinet, harp, viola, cello, and percussion (two players). The composer arranged it for a large orchestra in 1973.

Hemis, the two-day religious festival from Ladakh, is one of the most important festivals of India. It attracts a lot of locals and foreign tourists each year. The festivities include the Cham dance done by the priests to the tune of the traditional music of cymbals, drums, trumpets played by the monks. It’s among the most unique types of festival where the dancing priests dress up in elaborate brocade outfits and masks. Significance: It’s the celebration of the birth anniversary of spiritual leader Padmasambhava, founder of Tibet Tantric Buddhism
