Repetition and Nonsense Kit Clayton. Repetition and Nonsense. This album has an average beat per minute of BPM (slowest/fastest tempos:, BPM). Tracklist Repetition and Nonsense.

Though Kit Clayton's first album isn't exactly a straightahead techno record, that's the idea that comes to mind when it's compared to his material for Scape (released around the same time). It's not just the focus on four-four beats, either. Most of the effects on Repetition and Nonsense are clear, crisp, and high in the mix - miles away from the murky textures of his Nek Purpalet EP and Nek Sanalet LP. The material here is almost as uniformly excellent as the Scape releases, though its lack of shadow tends to be a drawback.

Joshua Kit Clayton, better known by his stage name Kit Clayton, is a San Francisco-based electronic and digital musician and computer programmer. He is a developer at San Francisco software company Cycling '74, helping create the Max/MSP MIDI/audio programming environment. He is also a significant contributor to Jitter, the multi-dimensional data set processing and visualizing architecture for audio, video, and 3D graphics (part of the Max multimedia package).

San Francisco's Joshua Kit Clayton is a producer and DJ of electronic music which drifts from minimal and moody techno-house to abstract sound sculpture. M-shape" and "settler rework" are featured on Repetition And Nonsense, his first project for Drop Beat. The album uses dubby atmospheres and layers of sonic disruptions that place it firmly in league with the outputs of labels like Chain Reaction and i220. The remaining four tracks come from the Latke EP, Clayton's first effort for the aforementioned Orthlorng Musork. This more abstract record would sound at home nestled in among albums from Microstoria or Christian Fennesz.
