The Fragile (also known as Halo 14), released on September 21, 1999, is the fourth studio album by Nine Inch Nails. The album features a rich array of electronic beats, ambient noise, and heavy guitar. While it received critical acclaim from many, it did not receive the commercial success that its predecessor, The Downward Spiral, did (attributed variously to the difference in musical climate, and insufficient promotion by Interscope Records).

Nine Inch Nails has also contributed to numerous film soundtracks as well as the soundtrack to the video game Quake. Initial ambitions for Nine Inch Nails in 1988 were to release one 12-inch single on a small European label.

As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains solely responsible for its direction. Sometime over the last decade, music that is intrinsically meant to be menacing (. Nine Inch Nails) has become a banal syndicated- action hour soundtrack. It's easy to imagine the overproduced grind of "The Wretched" blaring through a TV screen as Nightman kicks a henchman off a roof. This stuff could be the score to "The Crow 4: In Space. Why does Trent Reznor thinking he can succeed? I'm actually glad Billy Corgan used up The Infinite Sadness. Reznor would jump all over a title like that. It's difficult to decide where to even begin trimming The Fragile. It's so stunningly monotonous. Any bit of it could be lost without notice.

The Fragile from Nine Inch Nails is a true masterpiece where every songs tell a story in itself. Very much seen as one of the most ambitious record of NIN, it does have the same rage and desperate grit that The Downard Spiral (1994), but it also gives way to new creative outlets that Trent Reznor wanted to explore at the time. I could speak about it for hours, but I decided to break my opnion into a few points I consider important: The context. By the end of 1997, Nine Inch Nails has been touring the world tirelessly and gathering more and more important crowds. To conlcude, The Fragile is not an album that gives any instant gratification to his listener, but rather makes him discover a world of pain and ambitious musical ideas. It is now 20 years old and it hasn’t aged for a day. 315 Views · View 1 Upvoter · Answer requested by.
