Album · 1968 · 10 Songs. By 1968, Frank Sinatra dared to make his first pop-rock album. Though orchestrated by Don Costa, who’d excelled on the 1962 landmark Sinatra & Strings, the arrangements here center more on drums, electric bass, electric guitars, and harpsichord than the lush, romantic strings that most listeners expected. The setting is fascinating, even when the songs seem oddly suited for a man of Sinatra’s generation. Jimmy Webb’s By the Time I Get to Phoenix and John Hartford’s Gentle on My Mind, both hits for Glen Campbell, work well, along with Gayle Caldwell’s title track and Wandering.
Cycles is an underrated album of Frank Sinatra, released in 1968, by Reprise Records. The songs are arranged by Don Costa. The songs in Cycles album are as following: 1. Rain In My Heart 2. Both Sides Now 3. Little Green Apples 4. Pretty Colors 5. Cycles 6. Wandering 7. By The Time I Get To Phoenix 8. Moody River 9. My Way Of Life 10. Gentle On My Mind. All the other songs have a unique and beautiful side, and when combined with Frank Sinatra’s amazing voice in late 1960’s, the album simply becomes the best. It is not a concept album, and it can be listened any time of the day. You don’t need to be in the mood for it, just play and enjoy. The song cycles is a masterpiece itself, both lyrics-wise and music-wise.

The album was released through his own label, Reprise Records, with arranger and composer Don Costa at the helm as producer and Sinatra's longtime pianist Bill Miller as conductor. Guitarist Ralph Casale, a top New York session musician for an array of artists throughout the '60s (including Simon & Garfunkel and The Four Seasons), worked with Sinatra on the Cycles album, but he was careful not to look into those ol' blue eyes. He remembered in a Songfacts interview: "Sinatra used the best people and allowed them to do what they do best
