I have never warmed to Schubert's first symphony D82, a very early work which is unmemorable. However, I don't blame Bohm for this reaction. and recommend strongly. The Rosamunde Overture is excellent. Peers: hilips; s same as above + Munch/BSO/RCA and /EMI. But one of the things that helped rectify this situation was conductor Karl Bohm's recordings of the Schubert symphonies with the Berlin Philharmonic for Deutsche Grammophon between 1963 and 1971, which this individual CD is part of. It was one of the turning points by which the earlier symphonies of this Viennese great who walked in the footsteps of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven started showing up more often in concert in the early 1970s. It was a revival that didn't get nearly as much press attention as the Mahler revival of the previous decade.

Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D 759 (sometimes renumbered as Symphony No. 7, in accordance with the revised Deutsch catalogue and the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe), commonly known as the Unfinished Symphony (German: Unvollendete), is a musical composition that Schubert started in 1822 but left with only two movements-though he lived for another six years. A scherzo, nearly completed in piano score but with only two pages orchestrated, also survives.
