Does anyone have issues with surface noise on this?I've just cracked upen a new old stock shrink-wrapped copy, so wear n tear isn't an issue.Mills records are usually flawless soundwise, maybe Ron @ NSC was having an uncharacteristic bad day or maybe its just my copy?
cant be cut-related, it's either from badly electroplated stamper, or from "tired" (worn) stamper, or dirty stamper, if the press' cooling of the previous disc went wrong - could be storage related too; if the cut was messed, all stampers -> all copies/reissues would be f****ed too.
Yep 2 brand new copies with the same defects on them
Is your copy with the small ring on the label or with the large ring around the centre hole ? original first pressings with large ring have an incredible stereophonic sound w/ a lot of surface noise, especially on the track "Humana". Copies with small ring around the centre hole have less surface noise.
I have some pretty bad surface noise on B2! Mint copy as well
its your copy
Growth makes my skin crawl. Humana blasts me through the cosmos at a light speed.
The engineer had good skillz here, at the end of the 1st song on B side, Solarized, the tempo changes and the cut ends in a PERFECT locked groove. 1st time I heard it I sat for a couple of minutes thinking "thats cool, wonder when it's gonna finish"..... It didn't!!!!
one of the best axis releases if you ask me. the title track really gets under your skin... humana on b2 is the real great one for me here. it feels like your traveling at light speed, firing laserbeams at other spaceships or something... wel anyway, it's great :D
