Gong's 1970 debut album, Magick Brother featured a psychedelic pop sound. By the following year, the second album, Camembert Electrique, featured the more psychedelic rock/space rock sound with which they would be most associated. Gong's Live at Bataclan, 1973 was recorded in May at the Salle Bataclan in Paris. The recording (also known as Live in Paris) consists mostly of compositions from Camembert Electrique (1971) and The Flying Teapot (1973), the latter having just been released at the time of the Bataclan performance. Taliesin" also makes an appearance in concert; it was recorded years later for Gilli Smyth's debut album, Mother. Gong's spacy, jazz-laced prog rock is in fine form here.
