Blind is the second studio album by the Sundays. It was released by Parlophone on October 19, 1992 in the UK, then in the US by Geffen the following day, October 20. Often considered the darkest and most experimental of The Sundays' albums, noted for its melancholic lyrics and closer resemblance to the darker dream pop work of artists such as Cocteau Twins. The title of the album is from a lyric in the song "24 Hours".
The Sundays (stylized as The SUNDAYS on all releases) were an English alternative rock band. The band formed in the late 1980s and released three albums in the 1990s. The band's beginnings came with the meeting of singer Harriet Wheeler and guitarist David Gavurin while attending Bristol University. Wheeler had played gigs with Cruel Shoes, an early incarnation of the band Jim Jiminee. The duo soon augmented the band with bassist Paul Brindley and drummer Patrick Hannan.
Featuring gentle, folk-based guitars and pop melodies, the Sundays' second album isn't much of a sonic departure from their first album. While it does have several fine numbers, it doesn't have as many outstanding songs as Reading, Writing and Arithmetic; nevertheless, Blind will please most fans of the group.
Blind is the second full-length album by The SUNDAYS. It was released by Parlophone on October 19, 1992 in the UK, and then in the US by Geffen the following day, October 20. So a quick follow-up to the album's first single, Goodbye, which was released September 14th, about a month earlier. The SUNDAYS had signed to Parlophone when Rough Trade's distribution group crashed at the beginning of 1992. The 11-trk album was recorded in North London and co-produced by Dave Anderson.
