Still Dreaming is a studio album by American jazz musician Joshua Redman. The album was recorded with Ron Miles on cornet, Scott Colley on bass, and Brian Blade on drums, and released on 25 May 2018 via Nonesuch label. The album is inspired by Joshua Redman's father Dewey Redman's 1976–1987 band, Old and New Dreams. The record consist of eight compositions of which six are originals written by bandmembers.

On his buoyant 2018 album Still Dreaming, Joshua Redman evokes the spirit of his late father, saxophonist Dewey Redman (who died in 2006), and the elder Redman's adventurous work with longtime friend and bandleader Ornette Coleman. Specifically, the younger Redman draws inspiration from Coleman's Old and New Dreams band, which also featured his father along with cornetist Don Cherry, drummer Ed Blackwell, and bassist Charlie Haden. Much the same could be said of Redman's group here, as each of the players in his quartet, including trumpeter Ron Miles, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Brian Blade, has a similarly kinetic, almost preternatural sense for group interplay. Here, they play a mix of newly penned originals plus two covers, inspired by Coleman's band but in their own thoughtfully mutative style.

Still Dreaming is the latest proof that the late Ornette Coleman was a musical movement unto himself. In a sense, the jazz supergroup heard on the album - saxist Joshua Redman, cornetist Ron Miles, bassist Scott Colley and drummer Brian Blade - is paying tribute to a tribute: Old and New Dreams, a quartet of Coleman associates, including Redman’s father Dewey, that performed music written and inspired by their trailblazing maestro in the Seventies and Eighties. Trumpeter Jaimie Branch turned heads in 2017 with Fly or Die, an excellent quartet album that combined outré improv textures with crisp, strutting grooves. Kudu is a more insular but no less exciting effort, on which Branch and drummer Jason Nazary, both of whom double on electronics, burrow deeply into freely improvised musical rabbit holes.

Joshua Redman, trumpeter Ron Miles, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Brian Blade play six apposite but vibrantly contemporary originals, and one track each by Coleman and Haden. The springy New Year, a blend of fanfare and a childlike song that becomes a fast-bop sprint, draws a typically swift and swerving tenor solo from Redman against Blade’s tingling cymbal beat. The staccato yet folksy Unanimity features an even better Redman improvisation, and a Don Cherry-reminiscent fusion of fluency and fierce bluster from Miles
