Hélène Boschi was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 11 August 1917. Her career took place almost entirely in France. She studied at the École normale de musique of Paris with Yvonne Lefébure and Alfred Cortot and was established as a performer and recording artist by the early 1950s. Franz Schubert's Impromptus are a series of eight pieces for solo piano composed in 1827.
